Test for over 57,000 potential pathogens

If your “fungal nail” (a.k.a Onychomycosis) wont go away you could instead be suffering from bacterial nail. Traditional laboratory cultures, which attempt grow the microbes from your urine sample in a lab, often fail to identify the bacteria or fungi that make up your infection. MicroGenDX combines two advanced technologies to test your urine sample instead. One is called “next-generation sequencing” (NGS), which uses a database of over 57,000 bacteria and fungi to identify all of the microbes in your nail sample with 99% accuracy over 3-5 days. The other is called quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), which can more quickly identify common microbes causing prostatitis or epididymitis in just 24-48 hours. If you are suffering from thickened nail, discolored nail, nail separation from the nail bed, brittle nail, crumbly nail, or distorted nail, then now may be the time to get a MicroGenDX test that uses qPCR and NGS and find out what might be causing your symptoms.

Infections information

Onychomycosis is a nail infection primarily caused by a fungus that mostly affects toenails, but can also affect fingernails. It can cause your nails to become thick, discolored, and more likely to crack and break. Onychomycosis can also be caused by a bacterial infection, or a combination of both fungus and bacteria. Studies have shown that bacteria alone are involved in as many as 34% of toenail infections, and bacteria and fungi combined are involved in as many as 49% of these infections.
